Google Earth Project
Part I: Google Maps
1. Open you Google Mail account.
2. In the upper left corner is a list of Google services. At the end, click on “More” and choose Maps about half way down the list. This will open Google Maps.
3. In the upper left column, find the link that says "My Maps". You don't have any yet, so choose “Create a new map.” Name it “[your name]’s Resume.” Try not to be too much of a smart *** here. Put your first name in there.
4. Zoom in to the Council Grove area by double clicking in the vicinity.
5. Change the view to Satellite and then to Terrain, to compare each view.
6. Find your house. There are two ways to do this. Using satellite view, double click to zoom in and simply look for your house, or type in your address in the box at the top. This may or may not bring up the correct location. For example, my address was two blocks off. Not sure why.
7. Click on "Edit" on the left. Right click (cntrl click on a Mac) and choose "Add a placemark."
8. Click on the placemark. Add your name in the description box along with something to indicate this marks your current home. Choose OK.
9. Click on the placemark and then click on the placemark symbol in the upper right corner. Choose a new placemark symbol. Click OK.
10. In the upper left corner, click "Done."
11. In the left panel, click on “Edit” and add a placemark to CGHS. Change this placemark to a different color than what you used for your home.
12. Add a placemark to any other location you have lived (in the same color) and attended school (in the same color).
13. Finally, add three placemarks to locations in which you would someday like to visit. Change these placemarks to a different color. In the description box, explain what makes you want to visit.
14. When finished, make sure you are in Edit mode and in the upper right, click on “View in Google Earth.”
15. Click on “Done” and in the top right corner, click on “Send” and send me a copy at bravesearth@gmail.com.-
